Scotland Green belt land lost in new plans

Over 1,200 acres of green belt land in Scotland would be lost under new proposals to transform an economic hotspot.

The green belt land would be used for an expansion of Edinburgh Airport, and for international companies to build prestige headquarters.

The proposals were disclosed when an updated "planning framework" for western Edinburgh was published by the Executive. The document is an update of a 2003 framework to take account of plans for Edinburgh Airport and other transport proposals.
